     Global Innovation Forum (GIF) in Osaka 2019

  A total of 17 startups from 8 countries (USA, UK, Israel, Germany, China, Singapore, France, Japan),

especially in the advanced sectors such as AI/IoT, VR, Digital Health, etc. were invited to this forum.

  On Day 1, a Demonstration Showcase was given at the main stage and individual booths.

  On Day 2, a Forum was held, inviting a speaker from Silicon Valley to give a keynote address,

followed by startup pitches, and 1-1 business talks with Japanese medium to large companies.

●DAY 1 : Demonstration (SHOWCASE)

The opening ceremony was held and remarks were given by Mr. Hiroshi Ozaki, Chairman of OCCI.  Consul Generals from 9 countries as well as a total of 30 representatives from foreign government bodies in Kansai have attended the ceremony. 


Demonstrations were held by the startups, with more than 300 participants from Japanese companies, VCs, universities, etc.  Many of the participants visited the startups’ booths, and actively exchanged information, which showed their strong interest in collaborating with overseas startups with advanced technology.


At the Forum, the Opening address was given by Mr. Minoru Furukawa, Vice Chairman of OCCI.  The Keynote Address ‘Startup Innovation, Technology and Investment: Silicon Valley and Beyond’ was given by Mr. John Byrnes, Founder/Co-CEO, Ai Collaborator, Inc. who has come to Osaka from Silicon Valley.  The keynote address was followed by pitches, or business presentations given by the startups.  B2B meetings were also held simultaneously, and a total of 97 business talks were held.  Both the startups and Japanese companies gave positive comments at the end, that it was beneficial for the business development of both sides.
