1. Chinese President HU JINTAO visits Osaka, 
     meets with Govenor of Osaka, OCCI Chairman and Vice Chairmen

   On May 9 (Friday), top representatives of the Osaka public and private 
sectors met with Chinese President Hu Jintao at the Welcome Banquet 
cosponsered in his honor as a state guest by Osaka Prefecture, Osaka City, 
Sakai City, OCCI, Kansai Economic Federation, Sakai-CCI.

   President Hu Jintao expressed his high evaluation of the leading roles 
performed by the Osaka-Kansai region in greatly contributing to development 
of relations between the two countries consistently even after 1949, 
based on its historically close relationship with China.

   He also expressed his expectations for the region to further promote 
economic cooperation between the two countries, with reference 
to the current status where China aims for an environmentally-harmonized 
society, while Japan has concentration of environmental or energy-saving 
technologies.

   At the pre-banquet meeting between President Hu and top dignitaries of 
Osaka-Kansai, OCCI was represented by Chairman A. Nomura and 
Vice Chairmen S. Koike, S. Sato, M. Ishibashi, M. Kato, and K. Machida.

2. "Japan-China-Korea Industrial Fair 2008 in Osaka" to be held
     ---bringing together enterprises from the 3 countries to create new business opportunities

   To promote business alliances between the 3 countries, "Japan-China-Korea 
Industrial Fair 2008 in Osaka" will be held from June 18 to 20, cosponsored 
by JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization), CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion 
of International Trade) and KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency), 
with OCCI closely cooperating for the event's success as a key member 
of the host-city's executive committee.   

   This is a comprehensive business event consisting of exhibitions, symposiums, 
investment seminars by China and Korea, as the core items. The main purpose is 
to further promote business alliances between enterprises of the 3 countries 
whose interrelations for trade and investment are already solidly built, 
and thereby to contribute to even greater development of the East-Asian region.

   With the 3 countries' businesses brought together, all concerned are welcome 
to join the opportunities to deepen relationships for active exchange.
