Visiting Seattle\The Osaka Government Tourism Bureau and a tourism association in Seattle sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Shigetaka Sato, Chairman of the OCCI visited Seattle in the United States from August 18 to 22, and implemented promotional activities for Osaka/Kansai at the Kansai Seminar. This was Chairman Sato's third visit to Seattle, following his visits in September last year and February this year. This Seminar was held as part of the project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the friendship ties between Hyogo Prefecture and the state of Washington. Furthermore, the Chairman was present at a business partnership agreement between gVisit Seattleh, a tourism association in Seattle, and the Osaka Government Tourism Bureau, which was inaugurated in April. Chairman Sato has visited Seattle three times since September last year in order to increase and improve air travel links between Osaka/Kansai and Seattle, as well as to promote tourism exchanges. This time, he coordinated his visit to the U.S. to the project to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the friendship ties between Hyogo Prefecture and the state of Washington, in which Seattle is located. Also speaking for the Kyoto and Kobe Chambers of Commerce and Industry, he jointly promoted the three cities\Kyoto, Osaka, and Kobe\with those chambers for representatives of local companies. In the Kansai Seminar and the Tourism Product Fair, both of which were held on the 20th, Chairman Sato from the OCCI, Chairman Ohashi from the KCCI (Kobe), and President Okuhara of the KCCI (Kyoto) introduced each regions' business and investment environments and tourist attractions. Also, since a trend for tourism exchanges has been developed through the past two visits, Chairman Sato, accompanied by Executive Director Kano of the Osaka Government Tourism Bureau, inaugurated in April this year, made a passionate speech on tourist attractions in Osaka/Kansai at the Seminar. Furthermore, a business partnership agreement was concluded during this visit to promote mutual exchanges between Visit Seattle and the Osaka Government Tourism Bureau. In the presence of Chairman Sato, who served as a mediator between these organizations, those two cities signed a memorandum to establish a cooperative and collaborative relationship for the promotion of inbound and outbound flows between the two cities. ===================================================================== 4DJapan-China Elder-care Industry Cooperation Promotion Platform established Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in order to obtain business opportunities through solving problems connected with the aging society in China, established the Japan-China Elder-care Industry Cooperation Promotion Platform, and recently has begun seeking registrants. In China, with its rapidly aging population, medical and nursing care for the gGeritol Generationh has become a major problem. However, this is the first establishment of a platform designed to promote Japan-China cooperation in the elder-care industrial field. The Osaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry has made efforts since last year to collect related information by dispatching investigation teams and by holding workshops that focus on the development of nursing care projects in China. Based on these efforts, this platform will provide updated information on related events, and national policies, markets and concrete matters about China for the registrants, in addition to dispatching business missions to understand the local situation. Also, in this platform, in order to advertise the advantages of the elder-care industry of Japan, an introduction booklet (translated from Japanese into Chinese) of Japanese companies with high-quality services and equipment will be prepared and distributed widely to Chinese government officials and related organizations. Since the registration to the platform is free of charge, active participation will be called for from interested companies and groups. ===================================================================== 5DOCCI International Division report on VIP visitors August 26(Mon.)
